GYMNASTICS: Bemidji takes second in division at Moorhead
MOORHEAD -- The Bemidji High School gymnastics team finished second behind Rogers on Saturday at the Moorhead Invitational, finishing with 137 team points.
Despite the second-place finish, the Lumberjacks had three of the top five spots in the all-around for the Orange Division.
Leading those six were Tatum Offerdahl and Lauren Lundquist, who took second and third, respectively.
Offerdahl’s all-around score of 34.7 finished behind only 35 by Rogers’ Lauren Krall. Offerdahl took first on the bars (8.8), fourth on the vault (8.75) and fifth on the beam (8.55).
Lundquist added second-place finishes on the vault and beam with scores of 9.0 and 8.8, respectively, to help her to 34.4 points in the all-around.
Elsewhere for BHS, Madysen Schmidt took fifth in the all-around due to a third-place finish on the floor (8.8) and a fifth-place finish on the bars (8.35).
Leah Lucas took the top spot on the vault with a score of 9.15 and added an 8.7 on the floor, which was good enough for fifth.
Sophie Morin also locked down a fifth spot with an 8.7 on the vault.
Rogers stole first place in three of the events, second in three and third in two to edge the Jacks with 139.25 points.
Bemidji will return to action at 5 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 19, at Fargo South in Fargo, N.D.
