Blackduck man charged with child porn possession

BLACKDUCK—A Blackduck man was charged Friday with possession of pornographic work involving minors after an investigation into a child porn-sharing network allowed them to track his IP address.

According to a criminal complaint, Douglas Allen Peasley, 31, was arrested May 1, after Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension agents and Beltrami County deputies executed a search warrant at his house in Blackduck.

Peasley was identified during a June 2017 investigation of BitTorrent, a method of downloading files using a peer-to-peer sharing system. During the investigation, 92 video files containing child pornography were received from an IP address later found to be assigned to two Blackduck residents living at the same home as Peasley.

When law enforcement arrived at the home, they found Peasley, along with a computer and CDs. Deputies found an open folder with a directory of suspected child pornography. They also seized a DVD that contained multiple photos of girls performing sexual acts.

After he was arrested, Peasley told investigators that he had downloaded the photos on the DVD a few years ago, and admitted to looking at child pornography about once a month.

Peasley is not being held in the Beltrami County Jail. His next court appearance is scheduled for Monday, May 14.
