Few details available in Devils Lake stabbing death
DEVILS LAKE, N.D.-- Details are scarce on an investigation into the death of a woman who was brought to a hospital in Devils Lake Tuesday morning after she was stabbed.
Devils Lake Police say a woman arrived at the hospital with stab wounds early Tuesday morning and died.
Around the same time, a man was arrested following a high-speed vehicle pursuit that ended when the North Dakota Highway Patrol deployed spike strips south of Devils Lake, according to Devils Lake Police Detective Sue Schwab. The man was taken into custody by Bureau of Indian Affairs Police, who did not respond to requests for comment.
Schwab said she couldn't comment further as the case is being led by federal authorities.
Sgt. Robert Kennedy with the Highway Patrol confirmed troopers assisted by laying spike strips on a gravel road east of Oberon, N.D., Tuesday morning that disabled the vehicle shortly after 7 a.m.
Local law enforcement say the FBI is the lead agency in the death investigation, but FBI officials could not be reached for comment Wednesday. The FBI typically does not comment on ongoing investigations.
The North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigations would neither confirm nor deny it is part of the investigation Wednesday.
